Home Energy Savings in MA & RI

Massachusetts and Rhode Island offer robust energy efficiency programs, primarily through Mass Save (MA) and Rhode Island Energy, providing free energy audits, rebates, 0% financing (HEAT Loans), and no-cost upgrades for low-income residents via Weatherization Assistance Programs (WAP), all designed to lower bills and improve home comfort with insulation, air sealing, and efficient equipment.

Massachusetts Programs (Mass Save)

  • Home Energy Assessment: A professional auditor inspects your home for free, identifies energy loss, installs basic energy savers (thermostats, showerheads), and provides a plan.

  • HEAT Loan Program: 0% interest financing up to $25,000 for major upgrades like heat pumps, windows, insulation, and batteries, notes Mass Save and Eversource.

  • Income-Eligible Programs: No-cost insulation, air sealing, and appliances (fridges, washers) for qualifying households, with detailed income guidelines available on Mass Save.

  • Home MVP Program: New program for 1-4 unit homes for comprehensive efficiency improvements.
